Frequently Asked Questions

What is Coinograph API?

Coinograph is a cryptocurrency data API built across major crypto exchanges. It allows software developers to use a single API to get the real-time and historical market data on exchanges.

Why should I use Coinograph API?

Most of the exchanges provide an API to access their data. However, the markets generate huge volume of information. Managing the infrastructure to store, process and serve cryptocurrency market data is challenging and requires substantial efforts and infrastructure to ensure the reliability of the collected data.

Also, each exchange has a different API and requires a different implementation. Coinograph API provides a unified interface across all exchanges. You can view the docs to learn more.

What if I go over my rate limit?

You will be receiving HTTP 429 Too Many Requests. You can either upgrade or wait until your limit is reset again.

Can I trade on exchanges using the API?

At the moment we provide the market data and it is not possible to place orders. We are looking into that option but there is no timeline on it yet.

Is there a websocket available?

Yes, but we are still testing and improving the websocket. We will be announcing that once it is ready.
